Climate change
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time, but it’s also one of our greatest opportunities—if we act boldly and responsibly now. Rising temperatures, extreme weather, and natural disasters are already threatening our communities and economy. But addressing climate change is about more than preventing disaster—it’s about creating a stronger, healthier, and more sustainable future for all Americans. By transitioning to renewable energy sources like wind, solar, and geothermal, we can combat climate change while creating millions of good-paying jobs that will drive long-term economic growth.
I also understand that many hardworking Americans are employed in the fossil fuel industry, and nothing we do should leave those workers or their families behind. These workers have powered our country for generations, and they deserve respect and support as we move toward a cleaner future. That’s why I believe any plan to address climate change must include strong protections for fossil fuel workers and their communities. We need programs to help workers transition into new careers in clean energy or other industries with good wages, benefits, and retirement security. We must also invest in fossil fuel-dependent communities to diversify their economies and create new opportunities.
Renewable energy industries are growing fast, and America should be leading the way. I support major investments in clean energy infrastructure to modernize our power grid, expand renewable energy production, and make clean energy affordable for every household. These investments will create jobs in construction, manufacturing, engineering, and research while reducing our dependence on fossil fuels. At the same time, I support ending taxpayer subsidies for fossil fuel companies and holding polluters accountable for environmental damage.
Rejoining international climate agreements is critical if we want to lead global efforts to protect our planet for future generations. Climate change is a global problem that requires global solutions, and America must lead by example. At home, we also need to prepare for the effects of climate change already happening by investing in disaster preparedness, resilient infrastructure, and conservation efforts to protect forests and wetlands.
This isn’t just about protecting the environment—it’s about building a better future. A clean energy economy will create good-paying jobs that can’t be outsourced, lower energy costs for families, improve public health by reducing air pollution, strengthen national security by reducing dependence on foreign oil, and ensure future generations inherit a livable planet.
My vision is simple: an America where hard work pays off; where workers are supported through economic transitions; where communities are safe; where opportunities abound; and where future generations thrive on a healthier planet. Taking action on climate change isn’t just solving a problem—it’s building a brighter future while ensuring no worker or community is left behind.
